Why did Jesus defend Mary’s extravagant “waste”?

a. A Beautiful Act of Devotion: Showing Love for Jesus. v10

“Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me” (v10).

b. A Priority Act of Devotion: Putting Jesus First. v11

“The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me” (v11).

c. A Costly Act of Devotion: Sacrificing Something Precious. v12a

“…she poured this [costly] perfume on [His] body…” (v12a).

d. An Insightful Act Of Devotion: Preparing For Jesus’ Burial. v12b

“she did it to prepare me for burial” (v12b).
